Privacy Policy

Last Updated: June 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Browser Recorder ("we", "us" or "our") collects, uses and shares information in connection with the Browser Recorder Chrome extension, the browserrecorder.com website, and related services (together, the "Services").

The Services are provided by Yuliya Kryshyna, a sole proprietorship (jednoosobowa działalność gospodarcza) registered in the Central Registration and Information on Business (CEIDG) in Poland, NIP 5273173624, with a registered address at ul. Jaktorowska 8/33, 01-202 Warszawa, Poland. For the purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we are the data controller for the personal data described in this Policy.

Please review this Policy carefully. By using the Services, you understand that your information will be collected, used and disclosed as described here. If you do not agree with this Policy, please do not use the Services.

Our Privacy Principles

We have designed the Services and this Policy around a few core principles:

  • Your recordings are processed on your own device and are never uploaded to us.
  • We collect only the limited data we need to run, support and improve the Services.
  • We tell you plainly which third parties process data on our behalf, and why.

Your Recordings Stay on Your Device

Screen, tab and window recordings, microphone and system audio, and any camera overlay are captured, edited, processed and exported entirely on your own device. Your recordings are not transmitted to, or stored on, our servers, and we cannot access their content. Extension settings and your recording files remain in your browser and local storage under your control.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide to Us

When you contact us or send feedback (for example, through our contact form), we collect the information you submit, such as your name, email address and the contents of your message. We use an email delivery provider to receive these messages.

Account Information

Some features let you sign in with Google. If you choose to sign in, Google shares basic profile information with us based on the scopes you approve (your name, email address, profile picture and a Google account identifier). We send the sign-in token to our backend service to create and authenticate your account, and we store authentication tokens locally in your browser. Signing in is optional, and you can use core recording features without an account.

Payment Information

When you purchase a paid licence, the payment is processed by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as our authorised reseller and Merchant of Record. Lemon Squeezy collects and processes your payment and billing details (such as name, email, billing country and tax information) under its own privacy policy. We receive limited information about your order, such as your email, country and licence or purchase status. We do not collect or store your full payment card number.

Usage and Analytics Information

To understand how the Services are used and to improve them, we collect limited, mostly aggregated usage information through analytics providers:

  • In the extension, we use Amplitude (processing data on EU-based servers) to record a randomly generated device identifier, anonymous usage events (such as when a session starts or a recording or export is made, and aggregate counts of these actions), your operating system, browser user-agent, and the extension version. If you are signed in on our website, an anonymous website identifier (the "br_user_id" value) may be associated with these events.
  • On our website, we use Vercel Analytics and Ahrefs Analytics to collect aggregated visit information such as page views, referring pages, approximate location, device and browser type.

Error and Crash Reports

We use Sentry to monitor errors and crashes so we can keep the Services stable. When an error occurs, Sentry may receive technical information such as the error message, a stack trace, the extension version and a user or device identifier. We use this information solely to diagnose and fix problems.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

Our website uses a cookie ("br_user_id") to recognise returning visitors and to help us understand usage across the website and extension, along with cookies and similar technologies used by our analytics providers. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, though some features may not work as intended if you do.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate and maintain the Services, including account sign-in;
  • Process purchases and manage your licence through our Merchant of Record;
  • Understand usage, conduct analytics and improve and develop features;
  • Monitor, diagnose and fix errors, and keep the Services secure;
  • Respond to your enquiries and provide customer support;
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

Legal Bases for Processing (EU/EEA)

Where the GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases: performance of a contract (to provide the Services and process your purchase); our legitimate interests (to secure, analyse and improve the Services); your consent (where required, for example for certain analytics or sign-in); and compliance with a legal obligation. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time.

When We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal data. We share information only with service providers who process it on our behalf, and where required by law. Our key service providers are:

  • Google — sign-in and authentication;
  • Lemon Squeezy — payments and Merchant of Record services;
  • Amplitude — product usage analytics;
  • Sentry — error and crash reporting;
  • Vercel and Ahrefs — website hosting and analytics;
  • Our email and backend hosting providers — message delivery and account services.

We may also disclose information where we believe in good faith that it is necessary to comply with the law or legal process, to enforce our Terms of Service, or to protect the rights, property or safety of our users, the public or us.

International Data Transfers

Some of our service providers are located outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where we transfer personal data internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision, as required by applicable law.

Data Retention

We keep account information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Services, and order information for as long as required for tax, accounting and legal purposes. Analytics and error data are retained in aggregated or limited form for a reasonable period. We delete or anonymise personal data when it is no longer needed.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below. If you are in the EU/EEA and believe we have not handled your data properly, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority, which in Poland is the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO).

Children

The Services are not directed to children, and you must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, to use them or make a purchase. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Chrome Extension Permissions

Browser Recorder requests certain Chrome permissions only to provide its features:

  • Screen, tab and window capture — to record your screen, a tab or an application window;
  • Microphone and system audio — to record audio when you choose to;
  • Camera (optional) — only used if you enable the webcam overlay;
  • Storage — to save your settings and authentication tokens locally;
  • Identity — to support optional Google sign-in;
  • Cookies — to read the "br_user_id" value on browserrecorder.com so usage can be associated with your website identifier;
  • Tabs, scripting, web navigation and host access — to interact with the page you are recording, for example to track cursor movement and clicks during capture.

These permissions are used only for the purposes described in this Policy and not to collect the content of the pages you visit.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Because your recordings are stored on your own device, we recommend you also follow good security practices, such as device encryption and strong passwords.

Your Responsibilities When Recording

When using Browser Recorder, please remember to:

  • Obtain any required consent before recording other people, their voices or their screens;
  • Respect copyright and the rights of others when recording content;
  • Follow your organisation's policies on recording work-related content;
  • Comply with the privacy and recording laws that apply in your jurisdiction.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Policy as the Services evolve. We will post any changes on this page and update the "Last Updated" date above. If we make material changes, we will provide notice as required by law.

Contact Us

If you have any questions about this Policy or your personal data, you can email us at browserrecorder@gmail.com, reach us through our Contact Page, or review our Terms of Service.
